87 (Research):«u»Obituary «/u»- Sudbury Star - February 12, 1927: Mrs. Frances Fensom - One of the pioneers of Sudbury District.
Mrs. Frances Henry Stephens Fensom passed to her rest at her home at Nairn Centre on Wednesday, February 09, 1927 following an illness of a year's duration. Eighty-eight years of age Mrs. Fensom came with her husband to Sudbury District in 1891 and for the last 34 years has resided at Nairn being a pioneer homesteader and among the first to settle at Nairn. Previous to going to Nairn, Mr. and Mrs. Fensom resided for two years in Sudbury. Mrs Fensom was always an active woman and cheerfully accepted the hardships which pioneering life cast upon her. Born in Devonshire, England in1839, Mrs. Fensom came to Canada with her parents when three of age, the family locating in Toronto. In 1866 she was married to Richard Fensom who predeceased her in 1915. Surviving are a family of seven, three daughters and four sons as follows; Richard at home; Albert and George of Sudbury and Arthur of Barrie; Mrs. Sam Jessop and Mrs. R Dorsett, Sudbury and Mrs. Eliza Keeler, Sioux Lookout. The Funeral was held on Friday afternoon from the home of Mrs. R. Dorsett, Marion Street. Rev. P.F. Bull officiating.

Sudbury Star July 31, 1915: Richard Fensom Sr.
The death of Richard Fensom occurred at the residence of his daughter in Sudbury on Friday morning, July 30 at the advanced age of 76 years. Deceased had been ailing for some time but took seriously ill only a week ago. Deceased was one of the best known and most progressive farmer in this section. He came from Chesley, Bruce County where he was engaged in the milling business, over twenty-four years ago and took up land near Nairn. Today his farm is the model of that section and one that will stand comparisom with the best of Ontario homesteads. In religion he was a follower of the Church of England in politics a Conservative. Besides a widow he leaves Richard Jr. on the homestead; Mrs. Rands, Port Arthur; Mrs. S. Jessop, Sudbury; Miss Nellie Fensom, Sudbury; Albert Fensom, Cochrane; Arthur of Alberta and George of Sudbury. The funeral takes place tomorrow (Sunday) internment being made at the Church of England Cemetery.
