Notes |
Thomas Digby Daunt married the third time to Mary (or Maria) Walsh. Deed No. 538486 of 1824 states that
Thomas Daunt was married to Maria Daunt otherwise Flynn. Deed No. 538167 of 1824 states that Helena was
dead and that Thomas Daunt had married Maria. Maria died before her husband, Thomas Daunt of Fahalea, in
1836, and in her Will she left the entire residue of her property to her "beloved son Edward Walsh" and stated
further on in her Will that "Edward Walsh therein named now known by the name of Edward Walsh Daunt as
residuary legatee of the estate and effects of the above named Mary Daunt". In 1837, Thomas Daunt of Fahalea
died and the probate record (LDS Film No. 101036) showed that his effects were less than 1300 pounds and that
his executor and his legatee was Eliza Walsh Daunt, the wife of Edward Walsh Daunt of Glinny. In deeds of
October 1838 after Thomas had died, his son Dr. Thomas Achilles Daunt demised 500 acres at Glinny to Edward
Walsh Daunt, and Edward Walsh Daunt in turn gave up his rights to Fahalea. According to a deed of November
of 1838, Edward Walsh Daunt was deeply in debt and gave up Glinny for one year.

- Hi Ken,
Amy Johnson has been passing on your queries to me regarding your ggg grandmother. As Amy told you, I haven't found any information about whether she is buried in the Collins grave in Curraghkippane or not, but below are some references that might be of interest to you. Basically what it's showing is a marriage of Edward Walsh [Daunt] to Elizabeth Ryan on 23-10-1834, which took place in either Carrigaline or Crosshaven. The record of this marriage should be in Crosshaven church. The baptisms of two of their children are shown as well, Mary [21-09-1841] and Tom [1 or 8-04-1843]. Mark Collins [Jerome Collins father] was a sponsor at the baptism of Mary, and his wife Ellen Collins was a sponsor for Tom. The connection seems to be on Ellen's side of the family though, as her maiden name was Ryan and the the mother of the two children was Elizabeth Ryan. I don't know exactly where these baptism are recorded, other than they are in the Belgooly/Ballymartle area. It's possible that Catherine Walsh Daunt was another child of this couple.
Below those references is the marriage record of Thomas Daunt and Mary Walsh on 1-01-1795. [I don't know where the marriage took place] This seems to be where the surname came from. One of their children appears to be the Edward who married Elizabeth Ryan.
